Disability Employment by the Numbers - Statistics of Disability Employment
Increasingly, people with disabilities provide valuable talent to businesses across a variety of industries and service sectors. However, nationally people with disabilities remain vastly underemployed compared to overall employment rates. These rates are especially low for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, despite innovations in recent research demonstrating successful models of sustaining employment. Likewise, recent research has shown that the majority of accommodations needed for people with disabilities to succeed in workplaces are free. This represents a key opportunity for businesses to capitalize on recent innovations in research to target this largely underutilized talent pool.
