A women taking notes in a meeting

This research will create a technical assistance and training model for college professionals to improve employment opportunities for college students with IDD.

Overview

This research will create a technical assistance and training model for college professionals to improve employment opportunities for college students with IDD. VCU will investigate the impact of a training and technical assistance (TA) intervention, called the Career Network Intervention (CNI), on the following; (a) the provision of career-focused services by community and technical college professionals, and (b) the career outcomes of students with IDD. This CNI is an innovative intervention for establishing essential cross-departmental and community employment support agency collaboration to enhance the career development and planning services received by students with IDD in community/technical colleges. This approach trains and supports college professionals in how to establish interest-driven internships and other employment opportunities for college students with IDD so they are better positioned to secure CIE post-graduation.
